Especially since the majority don't bother going there to leave their white marks, so if you do happen to leave yours when there are a bunch of people waiting for one, you get grabbed quickly. However, if it is feast time, you will collect pretty fast on Humanity. Besides, you don't get many soul points for that Boss Battle. So, it's either feast or famine, in that area. There just isn't any random foot traffic in that region. It's hard finding a summons there when you need one, and when you leave one, it either gets chosen as soon as you place it, or it stays there forever.

I don't know about the PC version, but on the PS3, that area is usually dead. Not much enemies to keep you occupied and no bonfire in that area either. Also, Fire kills those slug monsters real fast, so either have Pyro, or a whole lot of Fire Bombs handy.ДЄs for the Capra Demon area. It's pretty easy to be turned into stone, in there and those rats can gang up on you fairly quickly. It's best to have a few Sacrifice Rings while there, though. Boss fight is a fairly easy fight, as long as you dress light. So, while I'm doing that I'll leave a white summons by the bonfire and generally collect souls via summons to fight the gaping dragon. I go to the sewers to farm the rats for Humanity, and the blobs for Green and Large Titanite. My friend managed to get about 100,000 souls in the period of 45min-1hr or so just by fighting gaping dragon as a summon.ДЄgain though I'm not at act 2/3 yet so there might be much better places to get souls later on that I don't know about if you are a higher level.

Just place your summon sign on the bonfire in the depths, as thats where most people will summon you from. Much like Capra, he's stupid easy to fight with summons, and he gives a ton of souls as well (10,000). If you are slightly higher level the gaping dragon boss in the depths is another easy way to farm souls for being summoned. This'll work better though if you are in a covenant that makes it easier to get summoned (sunbro or way of white), and it isn't such a good way to farm if you can't get summoned quickly or easily. He dies quick with 2-3 people and isn't very hard as a summon, so its an easy 3000 souls.

People love to summon at Capra because everyone hates fighting that boss alone. One other thing you could do is simply farm the Capra Demon if you aren't too high level for being summoned there.

Granted if you are later on in the game this probably isn't worth the time investment.

You can easily get 555 souls every minute or so by doing this over and over, and it's enitrely risk free since you are right next to the bonfire and the dragon does all the killing for you. After this just jump off the bridge to die - you'll respawn at the bonfire, the enemies will be respawned, and your souls are in a safe spot (on the stairs) for you to repeat. This will trigger the dragon's breath which'll kill all the undead on the bridge (555 souls). Go up the same shortcut to the middle of the bridge from the bonfire, run out, and the immediately run back down the stairs. Rest at bonfire, all the enemies on the bridge will respawn. Get to the center of the bridge, and unlock the shortcut to the Burg bonfire. Easiest spot I know that is fool proof early game is on the bridge with the dragon.
